I’m the producer of a beautiful film: La Noche Buena. The adventure started back in 2013, when American director Alex Mallis asked me to help him make a film in Cuba. Por supuesto, let’s do it! Cuban film institution meets US indie film. We had the best of both countries (with a Spaniard in between).
It wasn’t easy trying to get permission to shoot there in 2013. Back then the US government didn’t allow any commercial activity with Cuba. And the Cuban government was very reticent about it as well. After months of trying all possible leads, we finally got the permits to work with the ICAIC (Cuban Cinema Industry Institution) and were able to collaborate with an amazing group of Cuban film professionals.
